Maya Black Credit Card: What It Is, Who Can Get It, and My Personal Experience

Maya Black Credit Card: What It Is, Who Can Get It, and My Personal Experience

Maya continues to level up its financial products, and one of its newest and most talked-about offerings is the Maya Black Credit Card. If you’re someone who’s been eyeing a credit card but prefers a fully digital and hassle-free process, this might be worth checking out.

What Is the Maya Black Credit Card?

The Maya Black Credit Card is a regular, unsecured credit card offered by Maya. This means you don’t need a security deposit to get one—unlike secured credit cards. Everything, from application to approval and monitoring your credit limit, is done directly through the Maya app, making it very convenient.

It’s designed for users who already have an established relationship with Maya, whether through savings, payments, or transactions within the app.

Who Is Eligible for the Maya Black Credit Card?

Eligibility depends on Maya’s internal assessment. Factors may include:

  • Your usage of the Maya app

  • Transaction history

  • Savings and cash flow activity

  • Credit evaluation done by Maya

There’s no long list of requirements shown publicly, and that’s because Maya evaluates users directly inside the app. If you’re eligible, you’ll see an offer to apply.

Not Eligible Yet? There’s Maya Credit Card Express

If you’re not yet eligible for the Maya Black Credit Card, Maya offers another option: Maya Credit Card Express.

This is a secured credit card, which means:

  • You need to place a security deposit

  • Your credit limit is based on that deposit (minimum security deposit is P12,500 and your credit limit would be P10,000 which is 80% of your SD)

  • You can deposit more if you want to have a higher credit limit

  • It’s a good option for beginners or those building their credit history

Even though it requires a deposit, it can still help you start your credit journey and possibly qualify for unsecured cards in the future. You will be re-evaluated as soon as 6 months from the time you got your Maya Credit Card Express.

My Personal Experience with Maya Credit Cards

When I was first offered a credit card by Maya, it was the second option—Maya Credit Card Express, which required a security deposit. At that time, I decided not to proceed because I personally didn’t want a credit card that needed a security deposit.

After some time, I was surprised to see that I was offered the chance to apply for the Maya Black Credit Card directly in the app.

I submitted my application, and since everything is done through the Maya app, the process was very smooth. The app indicated that I needed to wait up to 3 business days for the review.

  • After 2 days, someone from Maya called me for verification.

  • Then, 2 days later, I received the good news—I was approved 🎉

My Credit Limit and Card Delivery

My initial credit limit was ₱10,000, which is decent for a first credit card and a good starting point for building credit.

According to the app:

  • Physical card delivery takes up to 4 business days within Metro Manila

  • Up to 10 business days for provincial addresses

Now, I’m just waiting for the physical card to arrive.

Final Thoughts

The Maya Black Credit Card is a great option if:

  • You want an unsecured credit card

  • You prefer a fully digital application process

  • You’re already using the Maya app regularly

If you’re not eligible yet, the Maya Credit Card Express is still a good stepping stone. Sometimes, it’s really just a matter of time and consistent app usage—just like what happened in my case.

If you’re already a Maya user, keep checking your app. You never know when that “Apply for Maya Black” option will pop up.

Starlink Philippines: Price, Speed, Coverage, and Comparison vs PLDT & Globe

🌐 What Is Starlink ? Starlink is a high-speed internet service powered by SpaceX (Elon Musk’s space company) that uses satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) to beam internet directly to your home or location — no cables, no fiber lines needed.  Unlike traditional satellite internet (which suffers from high latency and slow speeds), Starlink uses thousands of small satellites closer to Earth to deliver faster speeds and lower delay .  📡 Can Starlink Work in Very Remote Areas? Yes — this is where Starlink shines. Because Starlink doesn’t need fiber cables, it can provide internet to mountain provinces, islands, upland barangays, and other underserved areas that traditional ISPs (like PLDT or Globe) don’t reach. Many users in rural Philippines report stable connectivity where 3G/4G and fiber never reached.  The key requirement is a clear view of the sky so the dish can “see” satellites — concrete walls, trees, or tall buildings can block the signal.  💸 How Much Doe...
